night. These
locations provide washrooms, picnic tables and
overnight dockage.
A beautiful inland lake and river system
The
Trent-Severn Waterway is one of the continent’s
most beautiful and varied inland water routes. 240
miles of protected cruising through 20
lakes, rivers, and canals offering incredible variety.
From Pigeon Lake in the Kawarthas you are free to travel
in either direction on the Trent-Severn Waterway. To
the east, through Buckhorn, Lovesick,
and Stoney Lakes; pine trees, granite, beautiful
waters, quiet coves and hundreds of islands lie before
you;
truly one of Ontario’s most beautiful
areas.
To
the west of Pigeon Lake are some of Ontario’s
favourite lakes and summer communities – Sturgeon,
Cameron and Balsam Lakes; the towns of
Bobcaygeon, Fenelon Falls and Rosedale. This
area offers beautiful scenery, great fishing
trips and superb swimming
and sandy beaches.
At
the end of each lake (about 2 or 3 hours) you pass
through a small historic town to get into the next
lake. these towns all have beautifully maintained lock
parks for the boaters. There are restaurants, bars,
antique shops, bakeries, ice cream stores, shopping and
spas. Each night you have the choice of staying in
the towns or finding a quiet bay nearby.
Houseboating is an ideal family holiday
For
a family vacation Seahawk Houseboats are ideal. They
combine the advantages of cottage living with the
adventure of travel. Explore a
different town or village without worrying about reservations.
Prepare your own meals or
enjoy dining out at many of the
fine restaurants on your way. Stop for swimming or fishing
anytime you please. Soak
up the sun and enjoy the scenery. Spend time meeting new friends
at the locks or find a secluded bay for private relaxation.
The
possibilities are endless and it’s tremendous
value for the money. Spring and Fall vacations are
an even better value.
Fishing in the spring is excellent and the beauty of
the Trent-Severn Waterway in the Fall is unbelievable.
